Why fewer languages are faster
Each selected language adds model download and recognition work. One model is best for a single-language document; two or three are appropriate only when the page genuinely mixes scripts or languages.
English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Dutch
These languages share the Latin script but still benefit from the correct model because accents, vocabulary and common character patterns differ.
Greek
Use Greek for invoices and procurement documents from Greece or Cyprus. Add English only when headings, brands or product descriptions appear in both languages.
Arabic
Arabic OCR supports right-to-left script used across the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait. Mixed Arabic-English invoices commonly require both models.
Hindi
Hindi uses Devanagari script. Add English when documents contain English product names, tax labels, addresses or numbers alongside Hindi text.
A practical selection rule
Start with the primary document language. Add a second language only after confirming meaningful text uses it. Avoid choosing a regional preset when the document is actually monolingual.
